Farmer sentenced at Coleraine Court

John McCormack, of Bridge Street, Kilrea, was given a four month custodial sentence suspended for two years plus £22 costs.
He had previously pleaded guilty to the charges. This case arose from an anonymous call by a member of the public to a Divisional Veterinary Office.

Hide AdA Department of Agriculture Inspector located the animal and such was its condition a DARD Veterinary Officer had to attend and euthanise it. A spokesperson said that they give high priority to the welfare of animals and operates a vigorous enforcement policy. Any breaches are investigated thoroughly and offenders prosecuted as necessary.
