A popular and highly regarded nurse, Karen Ann Grimason, has died just two years after her BBC TV presenter husband Darryl passed away.

Karen Ann, a well known nurse who worked at Lurgan Hospital, died yesterday aged 56. Just two years ago her husband Darryl, a wildlife and nature presenter as well as journalist, died after a period of illness. The couple are survived by their two daughters Kirsten and Erin.

Just in April this year Karen’s brother-in-law Stephen Grimason died aged 67 after a long illness. The former BBC News NI political editor broke the news of the 1998 Good Friday Agreement.

Tributes have been pouring in for Karen Ann. One person said: “Such a lovely girl and a brilliant nurse. Thinking of your family.”

Another said: “Many a happy good memories I have of Karen working in Lurgan Hospital. A great nurse and a very special lady. Thinking of your family Karen. May you rest in peace.”

Karen Ann Grimason (née Madill), died peacefully at her home at Kensington Manor, Dollingstown on June 20, 2024.

She was the dearly loved wife of the late Darryl, adored mother of Kirsten and Erin, loving mother-in-law of Dylan, precious daughter of Tom and Ann and dear sister of Jonathan and Wendy.

Her funeral service will be held at Hill Street Presbyterian Church on Sunday 23rd June at 2pm followed by a private cremation.
